Kyle M. Brandon

Kyle M. Brandon brings a rare combination of legal knowledge, scientific training, and trial-focused advocacy to Matzen Brandon LLC. As one of only two accredited ACS-CHAL Forensic Lawyer-Scientists in Wyoming, he offers clients a distinct advantage in cases involving technical, chemical, or forensic evidence.

A Wyoming native, Kyle is a graduate of Colorado State University and the University of Wyoming College of Law. Before practicing law, his work focused on the spatial and temporal variability of natural resources, with particular attention to the hydrologic role water plays in land-use and land-cover change and overall ecosystem function. His research combined fieldwork and modeling to better understand natural systems across larger spatial scales.

That scientific background continues to shape the way he approaches legal matters today. Kyle is regionally recognized for his work in forensic law and has developed a focused skill set that strengthens his representation in both criminal defense and civil litigation matters.

Kyle also dedicated himself to advanced in-lab training at Axion Labs in Chicago, where he studied Gas Chromatography under Dr. Lee Polite. In 2023, he earned Certificates of Completion in:

  • Forensic Chromatography
  • Forensic Drug Analysis
  • The Science of DUID

After passing a rigorous examination, Kyle earned the designation of Forensic Lawyer Scientist through the American Chemical Society’s ACS CHAL section in 2023.

His lawyer-scientist training allows him to evaluate cases from a deeper technical perspective, particularly when laboratory testing, toxicology, chemical analysis, or scientific evidence may affect the outcome. That perspective supports the firm’s broader approach of being strategic, prepared, and ready to fully examine the facts in complex cases.

Whether representing a client in a criminal defense matter or a civil dispute, Kyle brings a careful, evidence-driven approach grounded in both legal advocacy and scientific understanding.
